Announcement: Program Coordinator (BC) appointed

Vitesse Re-Skilling (Canada) Inc. would like to announce the appointment of E. Gwen Fichtner to the position of Program Coordinator - British Columbia.

Vitesse Re-Skilling is an Ottawa-based National Research Council (NRC) associate company that specializes in "re-skilling" knowledge workers into specialized, high-technology careers for industries facing skilled labour shortages.  This placement is in support of the National Research Council's participation in the Okanagan Shuswap Regional Innovation Forum (OSRIF). OSRIF's objectives are to stimulate technology-intensive interaction and activities throughout the Okanagan Region.  Vitesse Chair & NRC President Dr. Arthur J. Carty is one of three OSRIF Co-chairs, and Vitesse President and NRC Director (Regional Innovation Centre) Arvind Chhatbar is a member of the Initial Regional Innovation Forum Secretariat.

Says Fichtner, "Vitesse Re-Skilling has shown tremendous committment to innovation in the Okanagan Region by placing a dedicated resource to research and respond to industry's most pressing skill shortages.  Vitesse will continue to work with local and national institutions to create industry responsive, state-of-the art re-skilling programs."

Activities currently underway in the Okanagan include a Vitesse-OUC partnership to implement "Source to Tap - Drinking Water Quality Risk Management Program".  The pilot program of Phase 1 "Risks to Surface Water sources" will be delivered this fall in response to the BC Drinking Water Protection Plan and pending legislation.

Vitesse Re-Skilling has award winning programs underway in Ottawa for Software Engineering, Photonics, Biotechnology and Microelectronics. For more information, please see www.vitesse.ca.
